Secom finishes well in security excellence awards

Innovative electronic security solutions have once again steered Secom plc to commendation in the annual security excellence awards. The company was a finalist for the coveted Large Installer of the Year award and the Integrated Solution of the Year award, narrowly missing both titles.

The awards were presented at a gala function in London, attended by security industry leaders and their customers. Secom Managing Director Minoru Takezawa says: “While we are disappointed not to have won this year, we applaud the success of our professional colleagues. By raising the bar in this way, the security industry gains credibility ¬– making the competitive business climate better for us all.”

Secom was commended in the Large Installer category for its work at ExCeL, where it upgraded and extended the London exhibition centre’s CCTV installation in a challenging environment and against tight deadlines, and at Alchemy Metals, Stevenage, where it integrated remote monitored CCTV and intruder detection systems with the high-value metal scrap merchant’s access and physical security installations.

In the Integrated Solution category, Secom was recognised for its contribution to a significant improvement of loss figures at Carphone Warehouse, which has 800 retail units across the UK, through installation of CCTV and alarm systems and provision of monitoring and maintenance services.

Minoru Takezawa says the performance in both categories underlines Secom’s key position in the UK security sector, and the respect it enjoys across the industry.

He says: “This recognition endorses our commitment to a safer society through delivering the highest standards of technology and customer service – ensuring that our customers’ premises are fitted with the best options in security equipment, backed up with professional monitoring and maintenance.

“We are extremely proud of, and grateful for, the immense support we received from our customers – and also from peers. Selection as a finalist reflects the excellent work of our people in the field and in the Alarm Receiving Centre, and will undoubtedly be an inspiration to strive for even higher levels of performance in the future.”

In 2007, Secom won the Best Customer Care Initiative award. The company has now been a finalist in the security excellence awards six times.
