Access control systems 'set to become more popular'

The appeal of door access control systems is set to grow in the coming years, as more business and institutions realise the merits of the security systems.

According to a MarketsandMarkets report entitled Electronic Access Control Systems Market: Global Forecast & Analysis, the total market for the technology will be worth $16.3 billion by 2017, at a CAGR of seven per cent. 

The study revealed that need for electronic access control devices has grown manifold in the wake of security threats "becoming increasingly complex".

In the work, the research company explains how authentication systems, intruder alarm and perimeter security systems will be used not only to monitor criminal activity, but also prevent the malicious activities from occurring in the first place as they deter potential offenders.

North America is leading the global market adoption trend for access control, closely followed by Asia-Pacific countries and those in Europe.
