CCTV systems in Burnham's Manor Gardens are to be upgraded to take advantage of the safety benefits the new technology affords.
Extra funds have been made available by the region's police and crime commissioner Sue Montstevens.
Burnham Town Council clerk Denise Emery told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the announcment is great news for everyone who uses the area and all who live in the Sedgemore district.
"We have recently been discussing with the police, Sedgemoor District Council and Watermark Financial Services how we tackle vandalism and anti-social behaviour," she said.
Ms Montstevens explained upgrading the CCTV systems will allow authorities to cover more ground, provide better coverage and make people feel safer.
It will be Sedgemoor District Council that monitors the new video surveillance systems when they are rolled out.
New IP cameras are much more flexible than older analogue systems and many councils and businesses are in the process of upgrading their CCTV infrastructure.
