SIA backing Met Police security operation

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) is supporting a Met Police crackdown on illegal night time activity in London.

Operation Condor is aimed at those who do not comply with licensing rules, including the managers of shops, pubs, clubs and also unlicensed mini cabs.

Last Friday (December 14th), SIA investigators aided police both on the ground and in regional control rooms in Hackney, Havering, Redbridge and Sutton. The joint operation led to 20 pubs, clubs and bars being visited and 82 individuals were checked.

"Like the SIA, the Metropolitan Police Service wants to ensure that London's nightlife is such that the public can feel safe while enjoying themselves in our city," said Dave Humphries, the SIA's director of compliance, intelligence and communication.

He added that buyers of security systems and services also need to verify that their providers are acting within the law, as it can leave them vulnerable to criminal charges.
