Police release riot CCTV images

Police have released images of people they still want to speak to in connection with the riots of August 2011.

It is nearly 18 months since the capital was the scene of widespread social disorder, but officers believe that CCTV systems still hold plenty of evidence and they will hope to use it to bring offenders to justice.

The Metropolitan Police has therefore published images of 149 riot suspects collected from cameras installed in the south hub of London, including Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich and Lewisham.

Anyone who recognises someone on the list is asked to call the police on 020 7230 1129 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Since the events of August 2011, there have been 4,714 arrests made, with 2,599 people being taken before a court. In total, the judicial authorities have handed out more than 1,100 custodial offences in relation to the riots.
