Crime-hit coffee shop to install CCTV

A Costa Coffee outlet that has been the target of five break-ins in the last three years has had enough and it is installing CCTV systems in an attempt to bring an end to the criminal activity.

The latest incident happened just last week and saw raiders use a sledgehammer to smash into the shop, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage in the process.

Emma Wharfe, business development manager for the franchise, told the Bucks Free Press that they wanted to let the community know that they will not let the offenders win.

"We are going to work with the Neighbourhood Watch to try and get some CCTV into the village. It’s something that could benefit the whole community and neighbourhood," she added.

She said that cameras will not only be used instore but outside the premises too, which could capture vital evidence of the vehicles that the criminals are using and act as an effective and visible deterrent.
