The growing versatility and effectiveness of new CCTV systems mean that they are now
deployed in a variety of ways and no longer just solely used by companies looking to mitigate their losses.
A Swansea Valley park is the latest place to make use of the sophisticated video surveillance technology after it received new cameras.
The South Wales Evening Post reports that members of Pontardawe Town Council have been told that work to improve the existing CCTV cameras at Trebanos Park is now complete and local residents can look forward to the safety benefits.
Among the measures undertaken to improve the coverage in the park were upgrading the CCTV resolution, replacing the two existing cameras and providing training to people in how to make the most of the system.
Rebeca Lewis, the town council clerk, also confirmed that the method for obtaining copied images from the local authority's cameras for use by the police had also been determined.
