CCTV systems have been instrumental in the arrest of three suspected shoplifters in Leicester.
On Monday morning (August 12th), police officers released CCTV images of the people they wanted to trace after incidents and three of them were identified by 10:00 am.
Sergeant Simon Barnes of Hinckley Road police station told the Leicester Mercury, which published the images: "I have never known such a fantastic response.
"It just shows that when the police and the public and the press work together we form a pretty good team.
"We shall be knocking on the doors of the three people as soon as possible."
CCTV has been employed to try and combat the rise in the number of shoplifting offences in the Narborough Road area since the turn of the year, as between New Years Day and August 6th, local police received 273 reports of shoplifting in the area - compared to just 198 in the same period in 2012.
