SECOM technology installed as part of Witham Industrial Watch initiative

SECOM technology installed as part of Witham Industrial Watch initiative

Introduction

SECOM Plc were chosen as the security solutions provider to introduce technology that would allow the estate to centrally monitor all persons and vehicles that entered any of the six sites on Witham Industrial Estate. Since the completion of Phase 1 of the project, the system has already shown its worth with an increase in the number of arrests and convictions due to the quality of footage provided; this is in addition to the fast turnaround of Essex police and committed on-site estate management.

SECOM Technology

SECOM have installed new technology on these sites consisting of IP CCTV that works alongside an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system, which tracks real time activity of all vehicles that enter and exit the site. Real time Information from the IP CCTV video is streamed from each of the six sites over an ADSL (broadband) connection and viewed in real time within the estate management office. These advanced systems were put in place to ensure that up to date information could be centrally monitored allowing a faster response and awareness to any kind of criminal activity. On each of the six sites, SECOM installed High Definition IP cameras , Network video Recording server and viewing suite, allowing high quality video footage to be used as strong, solid evidence against crime.

Estate Manager, David Cocker, commented ‘The SECOM system has been extremely easy to use with a facility allowing us to e-mail Essex police any images from the system, such as, the suspicious vehicle I spotted on camera at Swanvale estate. David who is extremely pleased with the system says ‘Since we began working with SECOM, crime has continued to fall’.

SECOM are currently working on Phase 2 of this project and look forward to further increasing site wide security and reducing crime as part of this Business Improvement District.
