The secretary of state for Energy and Climate Change, Chris Huhne MP, has officially opened one of the UK's largest zero-carbon home developments championed by one of SECOM Plc's Southern customers, Scottish Southern Energy (SSE), managed by Field Sales Manager, Chris Perry, Crawley.
Scottish Southern Energy's 10 new eco-homes based in Chalvey, Slough is a unique project designed to understand the changing role of energy suppliers in a low carbon-society and by doing so have become the first utility supplier in the UK to build such a development.
The plans over the next 2 years are to study this highly efficient community to assess what customers will need for the running of their everyday household as the UK moves to reduce its carbon emissions by 80% by 2050.
