Choosing a home alarm system for the first time can be a daunting task. At SECOM we aim to equip you with all of the information you need to make the right descision for your home.

To help you we have answered some of the most frequently asked questions about our installation process.

Our Home Secure and Home Secure Plus packages are both installed by highly qualified engineers, carrying a SECOM identification badge.

The installation will be arranged by our sales team, at a time that suits you.


Requirements

Our sales team and engineers can offer advice on the most appropriate way to install your alarm, but we’ve outlined some of our basic requirements below:

  • Signalling Equipment. Our Home Secure packages use Digi Air which is a wireless digital communicator that incorporates the multi-network WorldSIM. WorldSIM allows the Digi Air to lock onto the strongest signal available in order to deliver alarm signals. This ensures there are no additional call charges which would occur if your alarm was connected to your telephone line. In addition no wires need to be run to your telephone and a wireless signal eradicates the possibility of any telephone lines being tampered with.
  • Key Holder Response. The Home Secure and Home Secure Plus packages incorporate the facility for our ARC to contact your nominated key holder on receipt of an alarm signal from your alarm system. We strongly advise that you agree an action plan for your key holder to follow when contacted by our ARC.
  • Plug socket within 2m of the Control Panel. This should be completely free for the purpose of the alarm only. If you do not have a plug socket within easy reach of the control panel then we’d advise that you ask an electrician to install a fused spur prior to our engineer visiting.
  • If your package includes a smoke detector this should be installed in a hallway. To avoid false alarms our qualified engineers recommend smoke detectors are not installed in the kitchen.
