Access Control 10 Points to Remember
Adherence to the 10 points in this list will go a long way towards ensuring that your premises remain secure.
- Only persons who have been correctly trained should operate the access control system. If you are unsure of the correct operational procedures contact your security provider.
- Before leaving the premises ensure the PC screen is switched off and the operating program is closed down.
- Ensure that you have “backed-up” all events.
- Check all ancillary equipment at least once a week e.g. report printer, card printer and camera.
- Always follow instructions given in the operations book and details given by your security provider.
- Check all exit request buttons and emergency break-glass call points and readers on a weekly basis.
- Inform your security service provider of any alterations to your premises which may affect your access control system.
- Treat your access control system with care. Wiring, exit request buttons and break glass call points can be accidentally damaged or moved. Should this occur inform your security service provider immediately.
- If you have a problem, check the system carefully and, where possible, note the cause of the failure/problem. Inform the maintenance engineer of the believed cause of the failure/problem immediately on their arrival.
- Make sure regular maintenance checks are carried out by security service provider.
