Prominent electronic security solutions provider Secom plc has won silver in the Apprenticeships4England Awards – in recognition of its determination to develop the best-possible skills to meet future needs in its industry.
Secom was judged second in the large employer category, behind chemicals giant Pfizer. Other finalists in this category were Kennedys Law LLP and Portsmouth City Council.
The awards event in London coincided with the Celebration of Apprenticeships Conference – part of National Apprenticeship Week. The week aims to reinforce the message that apprenticeships can deliver for all employers, irrespective of size.
Alan Blake, Secom’s Commercial Director, says the silver award is a major achievement for the company.
He says: “It is a massive endorsement of our investment in training facilities and our commitment providing apprenticeships to ensure adequate skills for the future.
“Security is a fast-growing sector, with heavy emphasis on complex technology. We need people who are fully trained to deal with today’s systems – and properly equipped to face the challenges of evolving technology.
“This award recognises that our approach to this need is correct – not just by security industry standards, but according to multi-sector criteria.”
